May 22nd Race NEW Registration at 6am to 745am.
Marathon and Half marathon at 730am A Boston Qualifier.
10k and 5k run walk at 8am.

2015 WIN Marathon Event

WIN Marathon event for 2015 will be open for registration on Canada Day, July 1, 2014.

The WIN Marathon Event is May 17, 2015.
We look forward to hosting your Marathon event for the 6th season right here in Durham Region. Location for Expo, race day pick -up as well as start and finish line will all be determined shortly.
We do wish to continue having the route a Boston Qualifier!


WIN MARATHON Change of Venue.

There has been changes to the start and finish of the WIN Marathon Event this coming Sunday May 18.
The full Marathon, Half-Marathon and 10 miler will commence at 7:30am; the 5km, 8km 10km events will commence at 7:45am, the kids dash will be at 10am.
Location for the start and finish are now at the Heydenshore Pavilion, 589 Water St, Whitby, L1N-9V9 with parking across the street.
We will provide a shuttle from the orginial start location and delay times to accommodate any confusion that may occur.
For those concerned about the event being a Boston qualifier, the route will be measured and submitted for approval, and we will know by Friday.
On Saturday, at the Expo there will be volunteers on hand during race pick up to ensure all runners are aware of the route changes.


How To Prepare for Race Day.

After months of training for your event, the week before is most stressful time. Waiting for your big race from the 5k to a Full Marathon the mind plays games with you, and you may become anxious do your best to stay calm during week with yoga breathing exercises stretching as well reading as they all are very good for you. Watch some pumped up inspirational movies, read an inspirational story, engage with supportive running friends. Make sure you eat well during the week fuel up with complex carbohydrates, oatmeal, whole grains, quinoa, drink plenty of water, rehydrate with vegetables and fruit and consume quality protein. Prepare your running shoes, socks running gear ready and pin on your bib on your shirt the night before look in the mirror and say Here I come, it’s my journey that I have been training and waiting for, mine time to shine! Get a good night rest ,wear the same shoes and socks that you train in.Races that begin at 7 am make sure you up by 5, drink a glass of water, eat a small meal. Bring layers of clothing to stay warm, use our frogbox service to store your personal items during the race and most importantly kick butt! Race Director, Ian Barron.

7am: Full Marathon (Boston Qualifier), Half-Marathon, Ten-Miler
7:15am: 10 km, 8 km, 5 km runs
10am: Kids 1km Dash.

WIN Route Update

Due to massive Whitby road construction, we will need to alter the original routes of all WIN races. New routes will be announced on May 4.

New Start/Finish for all races will be at Whitby Rowe House, 301 Front St. All races still start at 7am with the exception of the Kids 1K which will begin at 10 am.1111

Parking is confirmed at Whitby Go Train south parking lot/north parking lot/Iroquios park/and the Whitby Abilities Centre.

Whitby Steam Whistle Waterfront Races is on November 18th, 2012, at Heydenshore Pavillion Whitby at 11am.

We are looking for volunteers to help out as road marshalls, parking ,and water stations. Get a FREE T/shirt, supported by Peacock Sports Whitby. FREE BEER and Food to all volunteers by Steam whistle.

Join Team Abilities Centre at the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon!

Whether you walk, run or wheel, we want you to join our team for the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon, Half-Marathon and 5km run/walk/roll on October 14th. This will be our 5th year participating, and over the past four years, we have raised $100,000 in support of the Abilities Centre. Since we like a challenge, our goal is to raise $50,000 this year, and we know we can do it with the support of our members and friends.

Our new race for the 4th Annual WIN Marathon, The Abilities 1 Mile, will take place at noon inside the Abilities Centre on the new indoor track. More details to follow.

Pancake Breakfast for Charity

A great breakfast for a small fee, and all monies will go to the Legion's Charity. Open to the public from 7am to noon. Free parking at Charles and Watson Streets, or walking distance from the Whitby Go Station.

WIN Marathon Welcomes Bruce Raymer

Bruce (Brooks/Elliptigo Canada), a world class runner, will be hosting the WIN Marathon 5K running clinic as an 8 week program. The clinic, which will be held at the Tim Hortons on Victoria St. in Whitby, will start on Sunday March 25th and run every Sunday until race day morning, May 27th, 2012. Cost of the program is $59.99. Bruce will lead the pack and I will also be involved at the back of pack. Click here to register.

The Whitby International (WIN) Marathon executive unveiled its new website today. The revised site is designed to provide an optimal user experience through any device and/or web browser. Information regarding race events, registration, merchandise, and other areas of interest to runners and sponsors is found easily and quickly through the intuitive design interface.

Key information related to Durham Region's premiere marathon event is currently available on the website at www.winmarathon.com, with many more scheduled enhancements to be included in the near future.
